Tucows toolbar is a toolbar added to browser which makes searches efficient over web. It helps in saving time when searching web. This toolbar also displays ads and modifies the browser homepage and settings. It also comes with third party applications and automatically updates them. It can also collect user information and behavior and help themselves to understand user behavior. So taking these all factors in mind it is very important to understand how to completely remove the Tucows toolbar and its related programs.
Removing the toolbar from computer by Control Panel
- Open the Start Menu in Windows and select Control Panel option.
- In Win 7/8 and Vista open “Uninstall a Program” or Add/Remove in Windows XP.
- In the available program list search for Tucows toolbar and its related programs which have been installed in your system.
- Select a program and Uninstall or Change/remove as available in the system.
- Follow the guidelines till the selected application is completely removed from the system.
Restart the computer to see the changes.
Removing the toolbar from the browsers
For this you have to perform the two tasks on your browser.
1- Remove the add-on/extension for Tucows toolbar.
2- Reset the browser settings.

To remove it from browsers such as Firefox you have to remove it from the Add-ons option in your browser menu. Click on “Tools’ menu in the top of your browser. Look out for the Add-ons option in the list. Select and click “Add-ons” option. A complete list of available Add-ons on your browser will be available in front of you. Search for the ‘Tucows toolbar’ add on in the list. You can scroll down the list if not available in the current view. There can be two options available for Tucows toolbar. Either you can remove/uninstall it from your browser or you can temporarily disable it. If you disable it you can later enable it through the same window.
If you click on “Remove “it may ask “Are you sure to remove the toolbar”. If you are sure you click on “Ok” and Tucows toolbar can be removed from your browser. There can also be a quick possibility to undo the remove but once you close and restart your browser you will no longer be able to see the toolbar in your browser. In case Tucows has changed your default search engine, then you have to go to the “Settings” of your browser and change the default search engine to the one you used before.
For Chrome the path to access the toolbar settings is Wrench button>Settings>Extensions and then disable the extension.
Reset the browser
Since Tucows toolbar can change the browser settings also you have to restore your browser settings again. For this you can go to your browser Settings page and click on “Reset” option if available. Also the homepage URL has to be set in all the browsers along with the default search engine.
